| In 1926, André Lhote, a famous
painter passing through Mirmande, fell in love with the village. Struck
by this admirable site, he settled here and established a summer academy.
He had his pupils come to the school, and they were joined by other
painters. The artistic calling was thus born, surpassing national
borders, and visitors flocked to the town, some of them buying old
houses with the aim of renovating them. The mayor, Mr. Caillet, ably
assisted by his chief executive, Mr. Blanc, keenly encouraged this
initiative. |
